  On March 12, 2008, Chief Heath Jenkins and Lieutenant Derek Summey of the Stanley Police Department graduated from the Law Enforcement Executive Program (LEEP) from North Carolina State University School of Public and Internationals Affairs Public Safety Leadership Initiative.  The program ran from October 2007 until March 12, 2008.  Each month students attended NC State for 24 hours and received extensive training in all aspects of management.  The program concluded with a graduation ceremony held at the NC State Club in Raleigh. The program is directed by James R. Horner, Director and other professors and law enforcement executives from all over the state. 
Last year Lieutenant Tim Branch graduated from the Management Development Program through the North Carolina Justice Academy.  Chief Jenkins made management training a priority for all upper level staff and first line supervisors have also received supervisor training through the North Carolina Justice Academy and other educational institutions.
